Web Design for C&J Marine Ltd in Chichester, West Sussex

A little bit about the C&J Marine Ltd website project...

C&J Marine make and sell quality marine products, covers and upholstery from their headquarters in Chichester. They had an existing e-commerce website but it was starting to look tired, had some problems, was hard to navigate and update.

Managing Director, Wayne and IT guru Aaron, popped in for a chat to get some advice. We sat down and went through their current website, found out more about their goals and needs and we came up with a strategy for their possible new website.

We love having these sorts of chats with prospective clients. Far too often clients jump straight in with what they think they need, or what others are doing, without seeking advice on what’s possible. Taking the time to really explore what your needs are and what you want the website to actually achieve for you, is crucial to getting not only the best value for your money but making sure you end up with a tool for your business, not just a web presence.

A short while later, we went over to visit the team at C&J Marine to get a better idea of the company, see their headquarters and meet more of the team. Then we got to work!

This website is essentially four websites in one! It combines a company website, a blog with the latest news, a boat search for users to find what’s available at C&J Marine for their particular boat model and a full e-commerce shop for buying straight from the website.

The whole project took several months from start to finish, due to its size and functionality. The e-commerce section has complex shipping options, coupons, filters and lots more elements that take a lot of development work and testing. There are lots of pages across the website detailing what C&J Marine do, who they are and what they offer, with many different layouts to make the most of the varied content.

Finally is the boat search, which is a new concept for the company, allowing users to get pricing information and to see products available for their particular boat, then get in touch.

This was a great project to work on. Lots of interacting with the team at C&J Marine and opportunities to get across our ideas and by the end of the project everyone was super happy with what we achieved (and we got given some beer to say thank you!)
